Another year, another great trip up to EAA AirVenture.

Here are a few photos (and a cool video at the end) I took along the way:

Kinja'd!!!

^ Big boom to grab your attention. You'll see more of this (with video) at the end.

Kinja'd!!!

^Camp Scholler was pretty muddy. Lots of RVs being pulled out by big John Deere 8000 series tractors.

Kinja'd!!!

^ The Fairey Gannet. Didn't get to see this strange bird fly.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Beautiful A-4 Skyhawk looking longingly at the C-17.

Kinja'd!!!

^ The TBM Avenger makes a great rain shelter.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Another shot of the A-4 after the rain let up.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Bag chairs make good umbrellas, apparently.

Kinja'd!!!

^ New Mustang in the Ford tent.

Kinja'd!!!

^ The F-35 Mustang. It went for $200k at the annual "Gathering of Eagles" dinner.

Kinja'd!!!

^ New aluminium-bodied F-150. Wrapping your knuckles on the side feels like knocking on plastic. It's weird.

Kinja'd!!!

^ EcoBoost 2.7 V6.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Another new F-150. They're much better looking than the 2014s in my opinion.

Kinja'd!!!

^ C-17 selfie. I can never get enough of seeing this and the C-5 in person.

Kinja'd!!!

^ NASA WB-57. The wingspan on this think is just bonkers.

Kinja'd!!!

^ An American Airlines 757 took some veterans on an Honor Flight during the day. There was a huge crowd lined up to clap and cheer for them as they deplaned.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Some guy walking around with a bird (parrot?) on his shoulder. I've seen him in years past.

Kinja'd!!!

^ At the museum. This 544ci supercharged I-6 makes a whopping 260 horsepower. How times have changed.

Kinja'd!!!

^ XP-51 prototype.

Kinja'd!!!

^ This 1648ci V12 weighs 844lbs and puts out 421 hp. Granted, it was built in 1919.

Kinja'd!!!

^1930 Model A Coupe

Kinja'd!!!

^ 1936 Cord 810 Phaeton replica. The originals were powered by a 289ci Lycoming V-8. This one uses a Corvair engine to power the front wheels.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Random SR20 of some sort of Volvo as we were leaving the museum.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Immaculate Ford GP (jeep). It looks like it just rolled off the line.

Kinja'd!!!

^ MiG!

Kinja'd!!!

^ C-7 Caribou

Kinja'd!!!

^ Customs and Border Protection boat with 1200hp.

Kinja'd!!!

^ The legendary !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Kinja'd!!!

^ Someone was selling this '97 Viper in the campground.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

^ Tiny Planet version of the flightline

I would have LOVED to have seen that Gannet. I've always been fascinated by that aircraft, and had no idea that there was still one flying (there may be more, I don't know). The whole idea of cramming two engines and three people into that airframe just blows my mind, not to mention the feat of engineering required to make the contra-rotating props work.

is this an intercooler, or at least a heat exchanger for a liquid to air cooler? Looks small

Not sure, I'd assume it would have an intercooler setup similar to that of the 3.5.

It is. This was my 18th trip and there's something new to see or do each year.

Good point. I was even thinking about that as I was putting it together, but forgot by the time I got to the end. I'll edit.

XT752 is the only one flying at the moment, though there is another undergoing restoration to airworthiness. The only other one in here in the States is on display at Pima.

How many times did the owner burn his calves before he removed the sidepipes on that Viper? Also, I'm not a fan of the move.

Evidently, all 2nd Gen GTS coupes had rear exhaust. The more you know.

The result of too many seared calves.
